The palm civet is most commonly known for creating the most expensive coffee in the world. They eat the ripest coffee berries, excrete the coffee beans less the pulp. The beans are then washed, roasted and sold for up to 100.00 USD per pound. The coffee is known as Civet Coffee, Kapi Luwak in Indonesia, Weasel coffee in Vietnam, and Kape Alamid in the Philippines. The palm civet has created many jobs for farmers in several Philippine provinces and created a world wide market for entrepreneurs.
